Faculty Clinical Pathologist/Laboratory Medicine/Informatics

The UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) and UCLA Health is recruiting a full-time faculty Clinical Pathologist (assistant to full professor) with the skills and interest to develop a strong academic career focused in clinical pathology. We seek an outstanding laboratorian who will focus on the intersection between clinical laboratory and informatics, utilizing informatics to promote optimal laboratory utilization to advance medical care. Interest in clinical chemistry, informatics and/or experience with successful implementation of laboratory utilization projects is highly desirable. The successful candidate will have an M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree with certification or eligibility for certification in the appropriate subspecialty by the American Board of Pathology (CP or AP/CP) or American Board of Clinical Chemistry. Eligibility for licensure in the state of California is required.
This individual will have a collaborative administrative and academic relationship with other faculty within the division of Laboratory Medicine, and provide clinical consultation across UCLA Health, including high complexity in-patient care at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and Santa Monica UCLA Orthopaedic Hospital, and more than 1 million ambulatory clinic patients in its 160 clinical practices. The laboratory operations encompass three laboratories, the largest of which is the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center Core Laboratory, a busy, high-complexity laboratory whose services span all aspects of clinical chemistry, hematology, and coagulation. Responsibilities include provision of consultative services to physicians regarding test utilization and interpretation, active engagement in quality assurance activities including those related to accreditation, and strategic planning to ensure the laboratory maintains itself as a state of the art facility. Duties will also include active participation in the educational mission of the department including the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical school students. This is an outstanding opportunity for a well-trained and highly motivated individual to assist with the direction and future growth of this dynamic laboratory facility. The successful candidate must also have a demonstrated record of professional service and academic achievement through independent research and scholarly publications.
